Houston Chronicle Endorses Traci Jensen for State Board of Education
HOUSTON –The Houston Chronicle today endorsed Traci Jensen for State Board of Education, District 6. Here is an excerpt from the endorsement:
In District 6, Traci Jensen, the Democratic challenger, is a former Aldine classroom teacher who earned a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston , and worked with a UH program that coaches new teachers. She is smart as a whip, an expert in curricula, and promises to see that the board has a "clear, concise educational direction, not an ideological agenda."
"I am grateful to receive the support of the Houston Chronicle,” said Jensen. “The Chronicle’s endorsement is highly valued in that it expands our growing campaign as we work to bring respectability to Texas education, end divisive rhetoric and put ALL Texas school children ahead of politics and ideology,” continued Jensen.

Traci Jensen has been an educator in the Houston Area for 20 years. Her focus has been to improve public education for all students. She has worked in Aldine ISD as a classroom teacher. She also has experience in Alief, Aldine, Spring Branch, Houston, Katy, and Cy-Fair schools working with future educators. Jensen has a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s in Social Studies Education, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.
Traci has also been endorsed by the Texas Freedom Network, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast Action Fund, Inc., the Houston GLBT Political Caucus, the Harris County AFL-CIO which includes the Houston Federation of Teachers, the largest educational organization in the area, the Katy Democrats, and the Houston Stonewall Young Democrats.
Early Voting begins on Monday, October 22 and ends on Friday, November 2. Election Day is on Tuesday, November. 6.
