After 9/11, the Homeland Security Department was created. The Department then started doling out funds for homeland security projects - presumably for port, airline, and mass transit security projects. Then we heard about small towns in places like Idaho getting some of the bacon. Homeland Security was pork barreled. Sorry, can't convince Commentary that small towns in Idaho are terrorist targets. Hey, gotta have something to put into the newsletter of the member of congress from Idaho.
Now we're fixing to spend a ton of bucks on rebuilding after Katrina. We need to. How long before we read about questionable spending because some member(s) of congress had to be appeased? You know it's going to happen - let's just hope it doesn't get out of hand.
