An Electoral Tsunami

Here in Harris County we could be very much awash in an electoral tsunami. After two days of Early Voting as compared to 2004, Ponderosa (HD 150) has a 180% increase, Kingwood/Humble (HD 127) plus 75%, Clear Lake (HD129) plus 45%, Power Center (HD 131) plus 280%, Acres Homes (HD 139) plus 155%, Palm Center (HD 147) plus 71%, and HCC Southeast (HD 145) plus 118%. I’d liked to say that both sides have great GOTV efforts but I think it is a whole lot more than that. Voters here and across the U.S. of A. are charged up about this election. Apparently, you don’t even have to reside in a battleground state to get excited and participate. After this election, we won’t be talking about who voted. We will be discussing the handful of voters who didn’t.

With this many folks voting, I just don’t see how that bodes well for the local GOP up and down the ballot. They better hope for some mercy from the ticket splitters.

The Chron’s E-Board endorsed the Dems’ U.S. Senate and Harris County Sheriff candidates today – both Latinos. Si Se Puede!

Mark your calendar for this Friday, October 24, 2008 from 7 pm to Midnight, Carol Alvarado's BD Celebration Fundraiser at Picazo (Preston at La Branch.) Take a break from campaigning and mingle or dance with fellow key Dems, and partake in complimnetary good grub, cerveza, and vino.

The Former Young Political ….. dropped by yesterday to take her former boss to vote and then to a BD lunch. The American Campaign Skipper tagged along so we could witness him cast his first ever American vote – congrats.

For my BD, The Young Political ….. gave me a cool mounted poster of 101 classic movie quotes. I think I’ll share a few with you between now and E-Day and apply them to the Prez sweepstakes:

Governor Palin introducing McCain at a maniacal rally – “Here’s Johnny!” from “The Shining.”

Obama at any campaign rally – “To infinity and beyond!” from “Toy Story.”

After reading the latest polls, McCain to Governor Palin – “I wish I knew how to quit you” from “Brokeback Mountain.”

My Brown Eyed Girl gave me a very cool ‘Stros jacket last night for my BD – hey, she has connections and that’s all I have to report from The Yard other than to say the World Serious starts this evening.
