'Stros In Seven, Honestly

Do you actually think I would pick against them? I would never pick them to win the Series 4-0, 4-1, or even 4-2. First of all, ChiSox have good pitching. They also have some good hitters - Paul Konerko, Scott Podsdnik, Jermaine Dye, and former Astro Carl Everitt. We'll be hearing those names a lot over the course of the week. It goes seven because that's the way it's been all year.

Commentary is finally coming out publicly against one of Houston Mayor Bill White's ideas. As part of Astromania, the Mayor wants us to go sockless (or is it soxless) - bad idea - stock up on the odor eaters - or hope it only goes four. Commentary is gonna go the not-wear-white-sox route.

Wonder where Carlos Beltran and Jeff Kent are watching the games this weekend? How about the fella that threw out the first pitch ever at Minute Maid, errrr, when it was called that five letter word - wonder if he's got tickets.

Still no word on who manager Phil Garner will go with in the designated hitter (DH) position in games 1 and 2 - the popular choice is Jeff Bagwell, of course. The Astros have a managerial advantage. Garner used to manage in the American League. Managing in the AL is different than managing in the NL - different strategies because of the DH - when you don't have the DH - you have to make a lot more moves like double switching. Let's play ball!

When Commentary signed on to help out Laura Salinas, the only candidate that actually lives in District 143, I knew then that Laura would probably not get much help in the endorsement area, so I have not been surprised or disappointed when we don't get an endorsement. At yesterday's Chron Editorial Board candidate screening, because we have made residency an issue, the candidates were asked where they were living when Joe Moreno died - those that didn't live in the district said they did live in the district, awwww, you lied. Telling a lie is not good in this business. Remember, you changed your voter registration days after Joe was buried, tsk, tsk, tsk. The Chron didn't endorse Laura - that's cool.
