There are reports in today's newspapers that some members of congress received flu vaccinations after it was known that there was a shortage of the vaccine. Texans Cornyn, DeLay, Frost, Gonzalez, Hinojosa, Lampson, Neugebauer, Ortiz, and Stenholm were among the vaccinated. Their explanation: doctor's orders.
Some folks are going to view this as cold blooded. These guys are not high risk.
W and Kerry have both said they will not get the shot. The 9 from Texas should have listened to their political party's leader.
The medical perk that the 9 from Texas received will be seen as out of line. It also sends the wrong message to the public. They must think they are more worthy or important than the rest of us.
It is going to be interesting to see if there will be any political fallout. DeLay, Frost and Lampson are all in tough races. Neugebauer and Stenholm are facing each other in one of the redrawn congressional districts.
