Early Voting begins Monday and folks will show up to decide on state and local public policy matters. I think James Rodriguez, candidate for Houston City Council, District I, has made the case and J. Dominic will cast his first vote ever for James.
On the HISD Bonds, Local Conventional Wisdom says African Americans will vote no and Latinos will vote yes. I wonder what Mr. Wisdom says about Anglo voters and the Bonds?
Somebody has to tell La Voz what’s going on in H-Town. La Voz is the Chron’s Spanish language weekly. They have a front page story about H-Town City Council Member Melissa Noriega and her opponent. Come on La Voz! Melissa kicked his arse earlier this year and she’s gonna kick his arse again! Melissa is a durn good council member and this fella is only running because he thinks it is cool to chase down paperless folks. La Voz should have put the District I race on their front page. I guess maybe La Voz doesn’t read the Chron.
I’m not going to say anything today about organized labor and the HISD bonds.
Let the games begin!
Some GOP fella named Brownback is quitting the race for Prez. Who?
You know, I never would have thought that Rudy G. would be the GOP’s nominee because he’s not a hard core right winger. Now that Guv Dude is supporting him, it looks like Rudy G. will be the nominee – interesting.
Speaking of the Chron, the columnist that is now back has had some good takes recently. Good for him and good for us.
Joey Bishop, the last surviving Rat Packer is no longer with us.
Deborah Kerr, pronounced Carr, is also no longer with us. I liked her in “The King and I” – she played the "I" - even though she didn’t sing the tunes like “Getting to Know You,” getting to know all about you - etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!
Ex-Yankee skipper Joe Torre walked away from a pay cut - $5 mil per year – huh! Don’t you love baseball economics!
Speaking of, as long as the Red Sox have ManRam and Big Papi, it’s very difficult to write them off.
And finally, Commentary is going to spend his birthday – Numero 55 – at a dinner for big time authors Sunday evening. Thanks to My Brown Eyed Girl – I get to hear Toobin, Brinkley, Broyard, Center and Lippman. Now that is cool.
