In Harris County in 2000 there were 1.9 million registered voters. 995,000 turned out or 52.77%. The final score was Bush (528,965) 54.2%, Gore (418,143) 43%. There were 260,705 Republican Straight Ticket Votes to 264,747 Democratic Straight Ticket Votes or 52.7 % of total vote.
In Harris County in 2004 there were 1.87 million registered voters. 1,088,000 turned out or 58%. The final score was Bush (584,723) 54.7%, Kerry (475,865) 44.6%. There were 370,455 Republican Straight Ticket Votes to 325,097 Democratic Straight Ticket Votes or 64% of total vote.
411,000 Democrats voted this past March in Harris County or 98% of the 418,143 Gore votes in 2000 or 87% 0f 475,865 Kerry votes in 2004.
The Chron E-Board endorsed my old buddy Vince Ryan for Harris County Attorney yesterday. That’s pretty good considering I still haven’t seen a Vince Ryan sign this year.
Add the GOP Harris County Judge to those that include the H-Town Mayor in their campaign ads. The GOP Harris County Judge also threw in a quote from the Office of the H-Town Mayor. Commentary is going to remind the GOP about this in two years when they decide to run ads against the H-Town Mayor.
Nothing to report from The Yard other than the fact that Pam-In-Charge is a “Woman on the Move.” She got some run – along with a few of H-Town’s notable women – in the Chron Business Section yesterday. Pam Gardner don’t need touching up for sure.
