Splitsville My Arse!

Some Latino leaders and organizations support the Houston Independent School District (HISD) bonds. Some African American leaders and organizations oppose the HISD bonds. Some Latino and African American leaders and organizations are on the sidelines. The Greater Houston Partnership is taking a pass. The Houston GLBT supports. CM Brown opposes. A lot of folks have a take on the bond program and a lot of folks don’t.

What we have here is a disagreement on public policy – nothing more. There is no racial divide between Latinos and African Americans like some folks are hinting and saying. There is no reason to have some meeting to fix things up between the two groups when there is nothing to fix. Let’s just keep debating the issue and let the voters decide – that’s all.

The Homeland Security honcho says paperless folks do more damage to the environment than a wall/fence – oh, yeah? He says the paperless folks litter when they cross into the old US of A. Oh yeah? Hey, ever hear of litter barrels.

Congratulations to Sergio and Tiffany Davila – they got a young one at home now – J. Dominic born on 9/21 at 9 lbs and 11 oz – yikes! Hey, Laura Salinas has a new cousin.

Former Dodger great Maury Wills is 75 today. Maury Wills is not in the Hall of Fame and should be – period!

Cecil Cooper had the interim removed from his title – that’s a good thing. Cooper is only the 14th African American to serve as a manager in Major League history. I don’t know about you, but I think Drayton and the ‘Stros should get some props for this move.

I went by The Yard last night and nothing was going on, so I hung a couple of big James Rodriguez signs on the outside walls. I don’t think the ‘Stros will mind.
