Yawner, Tunes, Dinner

Channel 2 is promoting a story that will run during tonight's 10 pm news - subject matter - Houston Independent School District (HISD) superintendent giving political contributions to his board members. I've seen some of those checks Abe writes - $100 level. Big deal. The folks over at Channel 2 are trying to make this look like a major ethical breach. It's not even close. Way to go Channel 2, you are sullying up a guy's reputation over nothing.

After dinner tomorrow with the family, the holiday tunes CD is inserted and doesn't come out till the evening of 12/25. Bing, Jose, The British Rockers, Mathis, Nat, Mannheim, Mariah, Pavarotti, Nicks, Estefan, and so on. Romie gets put on hold for about a month.

Speaking of dinner tomorrow, it is the only meal during the entire year that you over do it. It's not a regular meal where you have a salad, a side or two, and a piece of meat. Tomorrow you will have two or three salads, potatoes, yams, stuffing, other sides, turkey, ham, gravy, rolls, fancy dancy breads, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, apple pie, and whatever you are drinking. Right after you finally put down the fork and that last piece of pie is heading toward the gut, you are in that zone, in fact everyone at the table is - can't move and bloated - it lasts for about 20 to 30 minutes. Then we shake it off (some belch) and start cleaning off the table.

The District 143 race takes a brief break. Voters don't like to see candidates knocking on their door while they're watching the Macy's Parade.

Commentary will also take a break - will be back Monday. Happy Thanksgiving!
