Done For Now

GOP's in charge. School finance the priority. No bill. No leadership. In 2006 - vote for us, we get things done. In football parlance, this is called a turnover. For Dems, this is an opportunity to advance the ball. Let's see if we can get into the red zone.

Props go to Houston Mayor Bill White and his lobby team for having a pretty good session. No anti red light camera bills. The freeway towing program survived. Early on Commentary had doubts. It did not hurt that State Senator John Whitmire lent a helping hand.

The Al Edwards countdown begins. The Houston Democratic state legislator invited serious Democratic Party primary opposition when he sided with the Repubs on key votes. He'll probably get his statue. The Dem establishment will also go after him.

Next up - what will Kay Bailey Hutchison do? Look for the GOP insiders to mount mega-pressure on the U.S. Senator to stay put. They know how to get things done.
