¿Quién Es Más Macho?,
He Didn't Tell Me

Texas State Senators Frank Madla, Eddie Lucio or Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa - ¿Quién es más macho?

All three represent South Texas Senate Districts. Reportedly, all three were lined up to vote against the constitutional amendment banning gay marriages. In the end, only Hinojosa held his ground.

Some will say that the South Texas culture was an influencing factor. Well then how come Hinojosa can vote one way and Lucio and Madla can vote the other? Will Hinojosa face a serious general election or party primary challenger because of his vote against the ban? Doubt it. ¿Quién es más macho?

In the District 143 soon-to-be-called special election, there is a little buzz going around about this whole notion that is being spun that the late State Representative Joe E. Moreno was "grooming" one of the candidates. This is news to Commentary and others close to the politics of District 143. The spin has reached the point to where it is being interpreted as this is what should be - and if you are not on board, then you are somehow being dishonorable.

This spin has made a lot of folks uncomfortable even talking about it. Commentary for one consulted with Joe on politics, he never told me about this. Asked the young guns, some who were close to Joe, they never got this sense either.

Some of us honored Joe when we worked hard to help him become a state representative. Some honored Joe when they worked hard to help him get reelected.
