Arrrrrghhh!! You would have thought the make out party went bad. Commentary’s talking about this clubby love fest called the Texas State Senate. My PR Agent devotes her column to it in today’s Chron as do a lot of other newspapers. A lot of stuff is supposedly going on behind closed doors and it kind of reminds me of parents that don’t want their teenagers closing their bedroom doors when they have company over in the evening. It looks like The Dean and The Lite Guv are breaking up. The Dean doesn’t want to talk about, maybe he needs to talk to a relationship therapist. I hope they get over it and don’t spend too much time moping around sitting in their room and staring at the wall. I guess I’ll go to their My Space pages to see what really is going on and try to figure out if somebody else is involved.
Commentary is still digesting this immigration compromise. It kind of looks like it is going to be a long, difficult and expensive process if the paperless folks want to get their papers. Well, at least there is a process. It’s just going to take a while before all those paperless folks get to be Democrats.
Cowboy hats are the giveaway this evening at the yard – cowboy hats! Hey, we’re playing the Texas Rangers, so this is a Texas deal. We’re also playing for the Silver Boot which is also a Texas deal. In light of the fact that the state’s Latino population is growing – maybe next year’s giveaway ought to be a sombrero.
Tomorrow night, they’re giving away Camo Caps. I guess that’s also a Texas thing because there are a lot of hunters in Texas.
Sunday’s giveaway is Lone Star Series T-Shirts. Now that’s more like it.
On the front page of today’s Chron, there is a story about Los Caballitos. You know, we finally got us some real cool shtick at the yard. These folks are going to be at every game – they have to now – they are in the bigs – they made the front page. They’re hangout is called Horse’s Corral for now – nah! It has to have Latino flavor like Rancho Lee or Lee’s Tierra. They also need a sponsor – like someone that will buy them tickets to the game because it can get expensive. Commentary is has been going to ballgames since major league baseball first came to H-Town, I’ve never seen anything like this – it’s cool. Hope they get them a corporate sponsor and a sign out there where they hang.
I don’t want to say anything about how we got beat last night in 12 innings.
Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson is 70 today. Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson is 61. Happy Birthday fellas – see you at the yard!
