In today’s Chron there is a story about the Texas House kind of renaming part of District I “Podunk, Texas.” That’s great. I guess we’re supposed to call folks from there Podunkers, Podunkites, Podunkians – nah, I’ll just stick to calling them My Best Friend and Laura. I just don’t think James Rodriguez, Commentary, The Young Political Consultant That Works….. and Nick ( til I give him a handle) can have a strategy session on “Podunk.” I have to place a call to The Dean and make sure they don’t rename my hood – yikes!
It turns out the $4 Million Shelley Special is just a $350,000 special – that’s a big difference. Remember when folks said the special election was going to cost us city taxpayers an arm and a leg and they tried to get the election called off. Commentary, Da Bell and The Dean got all worked up for nothing. It looks like it’s is only going to cost us a toenail – hey, it’ll grow back. Commentary apologizes for putting out a bad dollar amount, even though I wasn’t the original source. Yeah, I know because we have us a state constitutional amendment on the ballot, the state is paying for stuff, but still…..well, you know what I mean.
Speaking of the $350,000 Shelley Special, Commentary might be on Channel 26 News tonight commenting, what else, about the race.
A local Latino group is not too happy that a local Latino TV news person got booted off the anchor desk. They want us to protest the TV station for getting rid of the Latino news person. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. When was the last time a Latino TV news person protested when one of us Latinos lost a gig? That’s all I’m going to say about that for now.
Meanwhile, CNN will have to take a back seat this morning/afternoon as the ‘Stros try for a four game sweep in Cinncy. Don’t worry about the Brew Crew. Let’s just handle our business – period – for now.
