Not Good Vote, Precinct Conventions, Sunday TV, Carrie/Terry, Tony and Matt

The Board of Education of the Houston Independent School District (HISD) had a 5 to 4 vote yesterday - the minority board members voted one way, the non-minorities voted the other way. The minority board members prevailed on an issue having to do with smaller schools and funding. You hate to see votes along racial lines, particularly on school boards.

Daily Commentary went to his precinct convention Tuesday evening - 7 folks, errrr, delegates showed up. My Buddy had three or four show up at hers. The engaged Young Gun had three at his. Laura Salinas (remember Laura) had three at hers. The young political consultant that works here had four at hers. The former Senate District 6 Dem Chair had two at his. Wonder if anyone had more than 7 in Harris County?

A new movie opens this weekend - Gene Shalit likes it - called "Failure to Launch" - with Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey. It also stars Academy Award winner Kathy Bates and NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw - what!! Terry Bradshaw - did Hollywood run out of real actors? Kidding, Bradshaw entertains us on NFL Sundays. Interesting, "Sex and the City's" Carrie Bradshaw and the Pittsburgh Steelers' Terry Bradshaw. Think I'm gonna try to see it.

Tony Soprano and Matt Santos return to our living room this Sunday evening - finally. Don't miss them.
