Shhhhh, Crash Words, Lines

Shhhhh. (whisper) Today is Texas Independence Day. Hope the Local Latino PC Patrol doesn't hear me. Hey, they got rid of 1836, maybe they'll try to rip March 2 off the calendar. The sad thing, betcha if you polled (call it the WonderVATO test) all the Latino students at all the high schools within Harris County, Texas, not even one in four could tell you what happened on March 2, 1836 - March 6, 1836 - or April 21, 1836. Duh, 3/6/1836 was the day the siege at the Alamo ended - at least that's what John Wayne said. 4/21/1836 is the day Sam Houston and his fellas routed Santy Annie at the river banks down the street from where I grew up. I bet most Latinos don't even know that Texas - at one point - used to be a country. I still think that 1836 could have been used as a tool to teach young and old Latinos about our local history. Hey, they didn't ask Daily Commentary - gotta get my 1836 T-chirt.

From the I didn't know that department, turns out one of my favorite movies, Crash, wins the this year's award for most dirty words for a film nominated for Best Pic - 182, including 99 F-bombs. All time record for Best Pic winner is Platoon - 329 dirty words, #2 is Deer Hunter with 208.
