Latino Votes, Mass Changes, Tiger's Back, All Stars

I saw some Lady Foghorn yard signs in the 'hood yesterday. Somebody is out here putting them up in vacant lots and a few key intersections. I look for Foghorn to make a serious effort in the Latino community. At this point, Dems don't have a plan or resources to do much in the Latino community, so Foghorn's folks could fill the vacuum so to speak and do some serious Latino outreach. I wouldn't be surprised if her campaign trotted out the Dem 2002 gubernatorial nominee to do some Spanish language radio and TV ads. I think Guv Dude would be wasting his money if he campaigned in the Latino community - he would be inviting Latinos to protest his anti-immigrant views. So Foghorn could literally be the only one with a well funded Latino effort.

Attention all U.S. Catholics! Contact your Bishop today! The Vatican is pushing changes to the Mass. They want us to say things differently on Sundays - and yes, Commentary has been known to go to church.

"Peace be with you" says Priest - "And also with you" says congregation becomes "Peace be with you" - "And with your Spirit." Also, before Communion "Lord, I am not worthy to receive you" becomes "Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof" - huh!

I can't figure out why the changes are necessary. The U.S. bishops will vote tomorrow on whether or not to put forward the new Mass language.

Tiger Woods is back and I'm rooting for him to get his 11th major this weekend at the U.S. Open.

Phil Garner, the manager of the Astros, gets to manage the National League All-Stars at this year's All-Star Game in Pittsburgh next month. Since it looks like no Astro will be voted to the starting line-up, Garner will have to name Astros to the squad. At this point I'm betting he will pick Lance Berkman, Craig Biggio, Brad Ausmus, Roy Oswalt and Brad Lidge. Why not? Look how well we've been playing lately and Roger hasn't even arrived yet.
