Local Debates, Signs, Absolute Bummer

Commentary didn’t watch the Dem Prez You Tube Debate last night. I was at The Yard watching a massacre. But I got to thinking - here’s another Commentary great idea! In an effort to gin up interest in next year’s local general election, let’s get the Chron and the local political parties to sit down and agree to online debates between the candidates for Harris County Judge, DA and Sheriff. The debates would be held at Harris County’s Seven Wonders locales like The Hartman Bridge in Commentary’s hometown, The Yard, The Port, Refinery Row, errrr Highway 225. Voters would ask question in real time from their computers on local issues. It definitely would add spice to the local election scene. Let’s see if the local political parties run with Commentary’s idea.

Speaking of, James Rodriguez’ yard signs are starting to disappear. Now that’s pi____g Commentary off – period.

Sometimes you wonder why they make movie remakes. They screwed up trying to remake “Poseiden” and “Longest Yard.” Now they are trotting out a remake of one of Commentary’s favorites – “The Heartbreak Kid” from 1972 with Charles Grodin. The new “Heartbreak Kid” stars Ben Stiller who always plays a guy like Ben Stiller. 1972’s “Heartbreak Kid” doesn’t need to be remade.

Just when you think it couldn’t get worse, it does. Hunter Pence is now on the DL for 4 to 6 weeks – arrrrgh!!!! Jason Lane has been brought up – arrrrgh!!! 63 games left.

Barry, Barry, Barry is 43 today.
