New Yorker, New Yorker

Today’s campaign flap is the cover of “New Yorker” with Obama and his wife in interesting gear. First of all, Commentary only knows one person in the whole Lone Star State that subscribes to “New Yorker.” If we’re talking about a cartoon cover in October then maybe it will be a problemo. I think this will be forgotten by then though.

What we know for sure is that 10% of the voters in the U.S. of A. don’t watch TV news or read newspapers – period. How else do you explain the fact that according to the polls, 10% of the voters STILL believe that Obama is Muslim?

One of these days – but not in Commentary’s lifetime – what you wear and where you worship won’t matter to voters.

In a way, the latest poll that came out this past weekend that has Obama and McCain in a statistical dead heat (44-41 for Obama) is probably a good thing. Commentary sensed that Dems were getting a little too comfortable. Let’s face it - we’re going to have us a race here and across the country.

This Bev’s for you! The Belgians own Bud! InBev, makers of Stella Artois and Beck’s, now own Anheuser-Busch. I wonder if they’ll start selling Stella and Beck’s at The Yard now. The ‘Stros visit LaRussa and Pujols at InBev Park on August 29.

“Hancock” is a bad arse fella – check him out.

The good news is the ‘Stros signed first round pick Jason Castro this past weekend. The bad news is BORKOWSKI is still on the roster…arrrgh! The Big Puma goes for the Home Run Derby Crown this evening and we’re on All Star break and thirteen games out.
