Jessica and Tal

State Representative Jessica Farrar received her House committee assignments and as expected she was punished for voting against House Speaker Tom Craddick's reelection. Jessica will now represent Northside and Heights residents on the Agriculture and Livestock Committee. That ought to be a relief to all the chicken, pig and goat raisers in the Heights. The Coalition of Northside and East End Cattle Producers are elated with Jessica's appointment. In all honesty, there is the Quality Feed and Garden Store on North Main in Jessica's district. Maybe Jessica can drop by on Saturday mornings and catch the latest on feed issues.

Using her seniority, Jessica did land a spot on the powerful State Affairs Committee. She expects to see a lot of action on this major committee.

Also in Austin, it looks like the end of the line for former State Rep. Talmadge Heflin's bid to unseat Hubert Vo. After a couple of days of hearings, Heflin's lawyers failed to offer up convincing evidence to change the results of the election. Unless the GOP higher ups order a partisan power grab, expect Heflin to head home to Houston by the end of the week. Sorry Tal.
