Chicken Feed

That's what State Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn has apparently been eating lately. It looks like she is backing away from a race against Governor Rick Perry in the GOP primary. This is probably upsetting to Agriculture Commissioner Susan Combs who was lining up support to run for comptroller. It was kind of like the final scene in "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly", where the three gunslingers walk into the graveyard - eyeing each other. In this case, Strayhorn strutted in, checked out the other gunslingers, then high tailed it. This leaves Perry and U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison alone to duke it out. Add Strayhorn to the list of tough talking elected officials with a bigger mouth than backbone.

Academy Awards Say No To Michael Moore. The Academy Award nominations were announced today and Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 911" was shut out. Not a single nomination. It looks like Hollywood is acknowledging that the election has been lost and they want to move on.

Yikes! Remember the Terrell Owens pre Monday Night Football (MNF) racy football skit with Desperate Housewives' Nicolette Sheridan? It turns out that MNF announcer John Madden was originally slated for the TO part. Talk about potential FCC record penalties.

Today's Dirty Harry Quote: "I'm not going to sit back and watch motorists be abused by the city of Houston". - State Senator John Whitmire on the city's Safe Clear freeway towing program. Any day now expect Whitmire to be seen standing on a freeway overpass, with sunglasses on, watching over the traffic, waiting to pounce on a greedy tow truck driver.
