Hope Is Alive!

A humongous thanks goes to Martin, Coretta, Malcolm, Barbara, Jackie, Jesse, Willie B, John, Willie M, Rosa, Ralph, Joseph, Andrew, The Champ, Thurgood, Ray, Cos, Medgar, Lena, Satchel, Joe, Arthur, Shirley, Harry, Sidney, Hattie, Mickey, Maxine, Lee P, Al, thousands plus more, and of course Lyndon for helping to break down the barrier and making this day possible in Commentary’s lifetime. Si se puede!

Has it actually been eight years? Man, talk about brutal for the U.S. of A. and the rest of the world. It is appropriate that Aretha will sing today at the inaugural. It’s time the U.S. of A. gets back some worldwide R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Howdy is out and the knuckle bump is in.

We’re finally on the long and winding road back to recovery – whew! Thanks to Florida we kind of got off track.

No more deciders. No more missions to accomplish. No more Big Dick Cheney. No more hekuva jobs that end up in the ditch. No more Crawford Ranch. No more arrogance.

Accountability is now in vogue!

Commentary is through with W unless he decides to make a last minute pardon of deserving crooks.

The Houston Area Latino Summit is taking shape. A tentative agenda has now been posted. Latinos/Latinas are registering. The moderators are set. Most of the presenters are confirmed. Sponsors are signing on. Go to www.camposcommunications.com for information on the Houston Area Latino Summit that will be held from 10 am to 1 pm, Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the Champions Pavilion at Minute Maid Park.

‘Stros pitcher LaTroy Hawkins will attend today’s inaugural. Hawkins said “Jackie Robinson showed my grandfather and my uncles and my father that anything is possible….Obama is showing my kids -- my kids who have seen that their dad has been successful -- that you can do anything. In my household, it's important, because it shows you can be successful in something other than sports. For an African-American man to hold the highest honor in the country, it gives my kids hope that if you put your mind to it, work hard, keep your faith first, anything can happen” and that’s all I have from The Yard.
