Our Phone Addiction

The National Safety Council released a report yesterday on something we all know is true. DWY – Driving While Yakking is bad for our health. Check it out. Everybody knows we take risks when we talk on our cell phones when driving. Of course, instead of taking responsibility and banning cell phone use while driving, we will blame it on folks like the Wireless Association for hiring lobbyists to kill good public policy. The special interest in this debate is us.

I don’t know if I’ll run into Guv Dude at The Yard this season. My friend Drayton is supporting Hutch. I don’t think you’ll see Guv Dude drinking a Bud. The local Silver Eagle is also with Hutch. It is in today’s Chron. Check it out. Like Commentary said a while back, folks are getting tired of Dude hanging around. Phone home, errr, go home Dude!

H-Town Council Member James Rodriguez has an Op-Ed in today’s Chron that I’m sure folks will be talking about today. Check it out. Way to go James!

Speaking of, go to camposcommunications.com for information on the Houston Area Latino Summit that will be held from 10 am to 1 pm, Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the Champions Pavilion at Minute Maid Park. We are currently getting input from key leaders on the agenda. It will be posted as soon as possible.

Commentary wants to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press for reading Commentary last week. “Slumdog Millionaire” won the Best Drama last night. You have to check it out. The new Mickey Rourke, who don’t look like the old Mickey Rourke, was on a roll last night especially when he thanked his agent for “having the balls” to tell folks he’s wasn’t the old Mickey Rourke. Kate Winslet has two beautiful Golden Globes this morning and that is all I’m going to say about that.

We will learn today who is the latest to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame and that’s all I have from The Yard.
