The “I” Word

Well the Chron E-Board jumped on the Commentary bandwagon and came out against a secret ballot for today’s vote for Texas House Speaker – that’s a good thing. Some State House reps want a secret ballot because they are afraid of the “I” word – intimidation. Commentary thinks intimidation is a state of mind. If you think you are being chumped, well, then you are probably a chump.

One of the dumbest proposals to come out was from a Metroplex area GOP rep wanting signed ballots but the ballots would be kept secret until after committee chairmanships and assignments are made. Now this fella is really scared of the “I” word. He probably had a childhood I-vent growing up.

Do you really want to know what Texas State House intimidation is? If Speaker Craddick wins today, he will create a new committee made up of folks like Dunnam, McCall, Coleman, Gallego, Thompson, Geren, Talton and so forth and put them in charge of finding out what happened to the 63 Congress Avenue birds – chaired by Pitts of course. He’ll call it the “Dead Bird Study Group” – a double entendre of sorts - now that’s “intimidation!”

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! Good luck! And may the best conservative Republican win – huh!
