The Nature Of The Game

One of the Chron’s columnists had a take yesterday on the H-Town Mayor and the use of eminent domain in taking over a small piece of property from a couple of seventy something old twin brothers. It probably wasn’t a column that the Mayor wanted to see on the first day of the New Year. Check it out.. Commentary was watching the H-Town City Council meeting this past Tuesday on the tube when the Mayor kind of chastised the Chron’s City Hall reporters (Feibel/Olson) for how they wrote last Sunday’s front page piece. The H-Town Mayor is now in a U.S. Senate race with fairly serious opponents. All of his moves – past, present, and future – are now going to be closely scrutinized. He is definitely going to get banged around in print and online and on the air. That is now the nature of the game.

Dissident Texas House GOPers will put forward a name later today that Texas House Dems are supposed to get behind and finally end the suspense. Stay tuned!

Commentary won’t be surprised if “Slumdog Millionaire” wins the Best Picture Oscar. I went to see it with My Brown Eyed Girl yesterday. It is definitely a great flick so check it out.

The only thing going on at The Yard this weekend (Sunday) is the public swearing-in of Harris County’s new Dem Sheriff.
