Councilman James Rodriguez!

Later this morning I’ll get to say “Councilman James Rodriguez” – that’s a real good thing. James will be sworn-in this morning at Discovery Green - H-Town’s new Downtown Park. At 12 noon today, James and The Lovely Wendy will be honored at a reception at The Yard. I’m really proud of my new leaders today! Way to go James and Wendy!

Today is the last day of filing for office here in the Lone Star State and a lot of eyes are on the Harris County GOP DA’s race. In case you haven’t noticed, not a single GOP big shot has come out in support of the current DA. As they say in the cartoons, “it’s curtains for him.” As a local Dem, you gotta love what’s going on within the Harris County GOP.

Speaking of, thanks to CEWDEM for passing along some info from a Dem on the mean/hateful poster displayed behind the Harris County GOP Chair in Monday’s Chron.com. Hey GOP, say adios to Latino voters. You might as well hang out a sign that says “no se habla Espanol!”

Most folks know how Commentary feels about things in Senate District 6. Check out who has filed for State Senator in SD 6 in the Harris County GOP Primary – tsk, tsk, tsk! Hey, I don’t make these things up. Why us? Talk about bad R-rated sitcom material. Don’t blame me. Please!

If I run into Drayton at The Yard today, I’ll probably ask him if any new deals are on the horizon.
