The Chron gave us a taste today of the Congressional Dem Primary Party showdown race in South Texas - Henry vs Ciro, plus Victor. I asked My Buddy for her favorite - Buddy said Ciro. I like Ciro, but I got a problem with how he got punked by Henry back in '04. How does an incumbent let that happen?

The Chron chose not to give Voters Guide coverage to Texas House District 27 - Dem Party Primary - located in Fort Bend County - bad move on the Chron. The Chron's E-Board also ducked the race, another bad move. Part of District 27 lies within Houston's city limits - bet they don't know that in E-Board land. Lots of folks in District 27 subscribe to the Chron. Lot of folks in District 27 work in the city, heck, some probably work for the city. That's OK - Commentary will endorse his client - Steve Brown - "a new voice, a new direction." Steve will be an effective voice. He's also the only Pro Choice candidate in the race (more on this tomorrow.) Commentary urges a vote for Steve Brown - also send him $$$.

The Chron also has a story about the city's red light camera contract. The company that lost out is challenging - their lobbyist tells the Chron that they are going to bring up the issue that their (the losing) company will open an office in Houston and create 100 jobs if they get the contract - huh? This driver isn't going to be impressed with a violator catching contract being awarded based on job creation.

'Ol Barn is gone - talking about Don Knotts, he died this past weekend. One of TV's most beloved characters - Barney Fife - "nip it in the bud." Andy only let him have one bullet. He never married Thelma Lou. Hey, he won five Emmy Awards - props to Barney Fife.

The biggest bust of the Winter Games - Boodee Miller. The guy stunk. He blew it.

Countdown to next Sunday's Academy Awards ceremonies - all time great movie lines, Part I - "I love the smell of napalm in the morning, it smells like victory." - Robert Duvall, Apocalypse Now.

"Charley don't surf." - Duvall, Apocalypse Now. "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse" - Marlon Brando, Godfather.

"This is no shark attack." - Richard Dreyfuss, Jaws. "We're going to need a bigger boat." - Roy Schieder, Jaws. "To die for money is foolish." Jack Palance. "To die for a woman is more foolish." - Burt Lancaster, The Professionals."Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine." Humphrey Bogart, Casablanca. "Round up the usual suspects." Claude Raines, Casablanca. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." Clark Gable, Gone With the Wind. "E-T phone home!" E.T., E.T.: the Extra-Terrestrial. "Go ahead, make my day." Clint Eastwood, Sudden Impact. "May the Force be with you." Alec Guiness, Star Wars. "I'll be back." Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Terminator. "If you build it, he will come." Voice, Field of Dreams. "They're heeeere!" Drew Barrymore, Poltergeist. "I coulda been a contender!" Marlon Brando, On the Waterfront. "Stella!" Marlon Brando, A Streetcar Named Desire.
