James Rodriguez kicks off his campaign for Houston City Council, District I, at a reception this evening at the Home Plate Bar and Grill – across the street from Minute Maid Park. It will certainly be quite a year for James. He’s running for office and he’s getting married to Wendy Montoya in June. James’ reception will be the in-place to be this evening.

My PR Agent says in today’s Chron that Harris County Judge Robert Eckels will be going over to Fulbright – good for him. Commentary still hasn’t heard about possible Dem candidates for County Judge. I’m changing my mind about White Male Dems being considered – sorta. Da Bell would be a good candidate and great County Judge.

“Kiss me. Kiss me as if it were the last time” said Ilsa Lund to Rick Blaine in “Casablanca” – one of Commentary’s all time best flicks. It won Best Pic in 1943. Rick Blaine has got to be one of the coolest movie names ever invented. Bogie, the beautiful Ingrid Bergam and Claude Rains got Oscar nominations but they didn’t win. Rick and Ilsa are arguably one of the best movie couples in cinema history. Interesting fact – Humphrey Bogart was born on Christmas Day – here’s looking at you, kid.
