Obama, Warriors, Eddie, Oscar
Obama brings his Prez campaign to Houston this Thursday – expect a packed and sold out hall – even though they are charging $150 minimum a head. I wonder who’s on the program. I wonder what local gets the honor of introducing Obama. I wonder who will be on the stage with him.
Speaking of, I saw a bumper sticker this weekend – Richardson/Obama ’08 – I could live with that. On the same car, saw another sticker – W the Worst Ever – I can live with that too.
Speaking of, Ricky Martin, who sang for W at his inaugural in ’00, is now is giving W the mid finger salute because of the living the vida loca war.
Speaking of W’s crazy war, it looks like Prince Harry is going over there to fight. Prince William gets a pass because he gets a Kings-ex.
It turns out Eddie Ante is the poster boy for East End golfers in H-Town. Eddie has had two photos of him in the Chron the past 10 days playing golf at Gus Wortham Course. It’s funny how some ideas all of a sudden lack an author like the soccer for golf deal. Kind of like James Cagney said in “Mr. Roberts” – who did it, who did it? Now the paperless folk bashers got into the act – check out yesterday’s letters to the Chron. Thanks City Hall!
Sunday is Oscar Night and Commentary will talk about cool cinema stuff
this week. Best Movie Kiss of All Time – hands down – Steve
McQueen and Faye Dunaway in 1968’s “The Thomas Crown Affair”
– real cool. It took 8 hours to film the minute long scene –
I can handle that. “Crown” won Best Song that year for “The
Windmills of Your Mind.” In McQueen’s career, he only received
one Oscar nomination for “The Sand Pebbles” – he lost
out to Paul Scofield for “A Man For All Seasons.” Dunaway
has been nominated for Best Actress three times – “Bonnie
and Clyde”, “Chinatown” and “Network.” She
won for “Network.”
