Eckels and The Bus Ride

Commentary doesn’t think Dems need to be hard on soon to be former Harris County Judge Robert Eckels for letting us know he’s leaving less than two months into his fourth term. You see Judge Eckels has never been one of those rabid GOP types. Let’s say the Judge had decided not to run for reelection last year – we probably would have gotten one of those right wingers elected – yikes!

We need to maybe send thanks to Judge Eckels for giving local Dems the opportunity to win the position next year. The Chron thinks a former GOP Texas state rep has the votes to succeed Eckels. Folks say he’s a nice fella. Yeah, but he’ll probably make a hard right when he tries to get the GOP nomination – you know, bash paperless folks and Gays.

Commentary is still waiting on Dem candidates to step forward. Maybe a Latina/Latino will emerge – stay tuned!

At last week’s College Classic at the yard, one of the teams was staying at the hotel caddy corner from the yard. A couple of hours before their game, the players came out of their hotel and got on the team bus. After all the players were on board, the bus drove about fifteen yards, took a sharp left and drove another twenty yards and stopped in front of the yard and let the players off – the bus trip was less than a half block long. I’m not going to mention the name of the school, but it’s located in Brazos County – and that’s all I got to say about that.
