Frank and Tomorrow

My friend Frank Alvarado passed away late Wednesday evening. He was Carol’s dad and a real super person. I’ll have more to say about Frank on Monday.

Funeral Arrangements for Frank Alvarado, Sr.:Rosary is this Sunday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Compean Funeral Home, 2102 Broadway (@ Brumbley). The Funeral is Monday, February 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral. The burial following the funeral is at Forest Park Cemetery (Lawndale @ Brays Bayou). A Reception following the burial is at the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Union Hall, 1730 Jefferson.

Last month, H-Town Council Member James Rodriguez brought up the issue of adding two new district council seats. Commentary said at the time that there would be a debate on this. Yesterday, Vidal Martinez and former Council Member Carroll Robinson filed a lawsuit on the issue. Check out today’s Chron story. This keeps getting interesting.

Here’s what Roy O. told MLB.com - "A-Rod's numbers shouldn't count for anything. I feel like he cheated me out of the game. It does bother me, especially for the guys that went out there and did it on talent. We're always going to have a cloud on us, and that's not fair at all.

The ones that have come out and admitted it, and are proven guilty, [their numbers] should not count. I've been cheated out of the game. This is my ninth year, and I've done nothing to enhance my performance, other than work my butt off to get guys out. These guys [who took PEDs] have all the talent in the world. All-Star talent and they put times two on it. I'm going out there with the ability God gave me. They have that ability, too, and they're putting something on top of it. The few times we played them(Yankees), when he (A-Roid) got hits, it could have cost me a game. It could have cost me money in my contract. He cheated me out of the game and I take it personally, because I've never done [PEDs], haven't done it, and they're cheating me out of the game."

Spring trainings starts tomorrow.
