DAILY COMMENTARY

Tough Dude, Good Luck Laura, Panama Ball, Bambino, Zsa Ditto

Guv Dude’s right wing buddies are a little peeved on this HPV vaccine for little girls. They are apparently unhappy that a few lives will be saved on down the road. Dude’s supporters always seem to have this negative thing about advancements in science, except for maybe stuff like Viagra and those fancy dancy 1080 Sony Bravia flat screen TVs. Let’s see if they try to get the GOP Prez wannabees to take a right wing position on this HPV vaccine issue.

The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has a new CEO – Laura Murillo – a Commentary friend. Laura is sharp and articulate. Heck, she ought to be running for office. It is good to see another Latina in a key leadership position in H-Town. She will do a good job.

The word is the Chron will have a major feature penned by Jesus of course in this Sunday’s edition on baseball in Panama. They better give it the front page treatment or else. You see, new Astro Carlos Lee is Panamanian so we need to know more about baseball in Panama – cool. It ought to be an interesting piece.

Speaking of the yard, you know its getting close to Opening Day when the Super Bowl is done, Spring Training starts next week, and the Astros Fan Fest is this weekend along with the College Classic out at the yard. Commentary has been invited to a yard luncheon this weekend where Drayton, Tim and Milo will talk about the upcoming season. They’re supposed to have good grub at the luncheon – maybe even a St. Arnold’s or two.

George Herman Ruth, Jr. was born 112 years ago today. Babe Ruth –“The Great Bambino” or “The Sultan of Swat” was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Commentary and My Best Friend and Matt visited his childhood home which is now a museum. When in Baltimore, visit Babe’s house – it’s only a few blocks from Camden.

Zsa, Zsa Gabor is 90 today – yikes!
