Winning, Filing Weekend, Tiger 30, Correction, Bubbly Coppola

In today's front page of the Chron there is a story about whether or not the Texans should tank it this Sunday. The former First Lady of the city says yes, the former Mayor says no. The Bumster says no and so do a couple of local clergymen. A writer for the New York Times Magazine who has a column called "The Ethicist" says it is OK for the players to deliberately lose. Look at it this way Texan players, coaches and front office, there are going to be some real p___ed off Texans fans across the Houston area Sunday night if you guys decide to show up and put up a W. You know things are wacky when Texan fans want a loss so they can have a successful season.

We're heading into the final weekend of filing for office. Expect to be surprised. Somebody always shows up at the last minute to run for something that catches folks off guard. We'll see.

Happy Birthday Tiger Woods - he is 30 today and already has ten majors under his belt.

Earlier this week, Commentary said that the time gods were snatching a second from us, I was wrong, they are giving us an extra second. Good, I'll try to put it to good use.

Niebaum-Coppola Winery, owned by Francis Ford Coppola, has put out champagne, errr, sparkling wine, in a can. It is called Sofia - named after his daughter the film maker. From bottle to can, apparently the taste doesn't get lost in translation. Happy New Year!
