DAILY COMMENTARY

Oops!

With less than a week left for filing for office here in the Lone Star State, you have to figure Harris County GOP big shots are wringing their hands trying to figure out if they want to find another candidate for District Attorney. On the front page of today’s Chron there is a story about the current DA and his emails – uh, oh! I’m sure all the other GOP county wide candidates are talking to each other today trying to figure out how to catapult the DA from the ballot. If the current DA ends up being the GOP’s nominee, Commentary is predicting that the DA’s race will be the nastiest of 2008 here in Harris County. I wonder what the H-Town City Council Radio Guy is saying on his show today about this?

The week before filing deadline is always one of the most interesting in politics. You never know who is going to show up and plunk down some dinero and spoil somebody’s holidays.

One of Commentary’s neatest Christmas gifts was a book from My Best Friend on the making of “The Godfather” – Commentary’s all time #1-2 flick along with “TG2. The book also contains the entire script. It’s funny, but in politics a lot of folks quote from “The Godfather I and II.” So from time to time in the coming year, I’ll be throwing in some “Godfather” quotes.

I wonder if the local GOP big shots are making the local DA an offer he can’t refuse.

I also got a lot of neat clothes from My Brown Eyed Girl.

Speaking of, we went to see “Charlie Wilson’s War.” You need to check it out.

John Kerry is a chump. Not only did he get punked by W, now he is getting into the NFL vs cable giants fight by threatening to hold U.S. Senate committee hearings. The Patriots and the New York Giants are on the NFL Network this Saturday night so most of American won’t be able to watch. Hey, Senator, why don’t you just park your arse at a sports bar this Saturday evening and quit wasting the federal government’s time.

I gave out to some folks a 2008 calendar with ‘Stros players and pets. The proceeds from calendar sales go pet adoption services. Six of the ‘Stros on the calendar are no longer on the team so I guess the calendar is only good for half the year.
