Today's favorite headline comes from the Fort Worth Star Telegram's online edition. "Bush acknowledges Iraq problems". Thanks for coming around dude.

Yesterday's disingenuous article is out of the Austin American Statesman's online version. . "Changing course on insurance for kids? Restoring benefits, boosting enrollment are lawmakers' goal". The story is about GOP members of the Texas legislature looking to undo some of the cuts to the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIPs). The 2006 elections are coming and Commentary believes that the GOP is looking to avoid roadkill like Talmadge Heflin and Arlene Wohlgemuth - both major ax handlers in the 2003 CHIPs deforestation.

Speaking of the GOP, it sure is fun watching the Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchinson folks go after each other. The GOP primary is still over fourteen months away. Said Hutchison spokesperson David Beckwith, "Perry is not a leader. He waits and sees which way the parade is going, and then he gets out in front of it". Dems need to start saving these types of quotes. There will be plenty more in the months to come. Mmmm mmmm good.

For those of you that are curious about our Christmas card, the quote on the front cover is from "Baby You're A Rich Man" - The Yellow Submarine album.
