Fill It Up At ChevronTexaco
By Marc Campos

Are you looking to do something special this holiday season? For the rest of the month, try filling your gas tank at a ChevronTexaco station.

It was announced yesterday that ChevronTexaco had awarded the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and the Houston Urban League $1 million for dropout prevention programs. HISD and Urban league will split the $1 million. HISD will use part of its $500,000 on the new high school for immigrants. Urban League will use its share to target students in Houston's northeast side.

We all know that the dropout rate is a major problem in Houston, so we should show our appreciation to those that provide assistance to combat the problem. It seems like the dropout problem has been around for a long time. We don't know if the HISD and Urban League approaches will work. Let's hope they do. Meanwhile, make the effort this holiday season to fill up at your local ChevronTexaco station.
