On the front page of today’s Chron there is a story about changes the incoming GOP Harris County DA will be making. Check it out. Some courthouse observers are describing the changes as “political retribution.” I don’t know about that. Of course, Commentary didn’t vote for her but she won so she is entitled to make changes just like our winner, Obama, can make changes.
A Latino will finally be announced today as a member of Obama’s cabinet – Bill Richardson as the next Commerce Secretary. I wonder if a second Latino/Latina or even a third will be named. Speaking of, Commentary kind of erred yesterday. There has been a Latino Transportation Secretary – sorry.
Governor Palin scored a few points within the National GOP for being the biggest GOP name to campaign for their U.S. Senator in Georgia this past week. She was also brought in to “close” the deal. More GOP voters turned out in the runoff than Dem voters – interesting.
If you get a chance, check out the Statesman’s take on a new poll about the Lone Star State. Just like Commentary was saying, there is a recipe for Dems that might work in 2010.
It is now been over four weeks since the election and we still don’t know who is going to be the next Texas House Speaker. Maybe somebody ought to put together a webpage someplace where folks, errr know-it-alls like Commentary can put in their educated guesses for a few bucks and the winner takes the pot like one of those Super Bowl pots.
Commentary’s photographer Tessa Goth came out with her annual Christmas card - you know - the kind where she does a take on an album cover. Tessa came out with another cool card for sure. This year’s is John Lennon’s first album “Plastic Ono Band.” That is the one where he and Yoko are sitting under a big tree. This year Tessa and her Eric are sitting under a big tree. The album’s tunes include “Mother”, “Working Class Hero”, and “God.” Way to go Tessa!
