Biting the Dust

Adios pal! That’s what W said to Al as another GOP Latino has lost luster. It wasn’t that long ago when the GOP Latinos were being touted as the future of the GOP – not anymore. It just isn’t cool to be a GOP Latino nowadays. The GOP Latino strategy was a failure and no longer exists. Their shining star Al is now left to circle the drain. The face of the GOP no longer has Brown spots. No se puede!

Warning to Harris County Latinos – steer clear of the Harris County suburbs for the next six months. According to today’s Chron, it looks like the Harris County GOP Primary will have a heated race for County Judge. That means a candidate dash to the way far right. That means a lot of Latino, errr paperless folk bashing – hide your ninos! Local Dems would be wise to put a Latino vote strategy in place – hey, what an idea!

It looks like one of the right wing GOP U.S. Senators from the State of Idaho was caught promoting the wrong spud industry. The GOPer pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct for activity in a public bathroom – uh-oh. His career now seems to be spuddering out of control ……awwww!

Speaking of taking control, the City of H-Town has never had an African American head pro football coach or Major League baseball manager. We now have one in baseball and his name is Cecil Cooper – a .298 career hitter with the Brewers and Red Sox from 1971 to 1987. FYI: Cooper was with the Red Sox on the 1975 World Serious team that ended up losing to the Big Red Machine 4 games to 3. He was also on the Brewers when they were in the American League in the 1982 World Serious and lost to the Cardinals in seven games. Cooper had a dinger in the 8th inning of Game 3 off of closer Bruce Sutter.

There were big changes at The Yard yesterday. I’ll let others talk about the past, Commentary is ready to start celebrating the Cooper Era at The Yard this evening – it’s Coop versus La Russa for three! Commentary is excited that we have us an African American skipper. I’m proud to be a ‘Stros fan this morning! Way to go Drayton, Tal and Pam-In-Charge!
