Drayton, Peter's Opponent

Houston Astros owner Drayton McLane will be inducted into the City of Houston Hall of Fame tonight - yes, we do have a hall of fame. Drayton certainly deserves the honor.

In the opinion of Commentary, Drayton is the best major league baseball team owner - period. (FYI - Commentary, before Commentary, used to work for Drayton and the Astros.) He has done everything possible to bring a World Series to Houston. Astros baseball is exciting because of Drayton.

Drayton and Astros also do good things in the community, including participating in the annual Players' Wives Gala that benefits the Houston Area Women's Center. From the did you know department: A few years ago, Drayton named Pam Gardner (a Commentary buddy) to the position of President of Business Operations for the Astros. Pam is considered one of the most influential women in professional sports.

As long as Drayton owns the Astros, Houstonians can look forward to someday going to a parade downtown to honor the World Series Champion Astros.

Well it looks like Houston City Council At-Large candidate Peter Brown has somewhat of an opponent. Lot of folks were thinking that Peter was going to get a free ride. Got a letter yesterday signed by GOP big shot George Strake and former Houston city council member Bert Keller touting Roy Morales. They describe Morales as "the only conservative candidate" in the race. They're hosting a fundraiser for him at a home in River Oaks. Commentary is supporting Peter Brown and still thinks he will win.
