Rope-A-Dope and Friends

The Junior Senator from The Lone Star State says heís not going to talk about his future Dem opponent until he officially has a Dem opponent. Thatís a bad strategy that will change sometime soon Ė bet me. The Junior Senator is not Muhammad Ali. The rope-a-dope strategy wonít work for him cause heís not The Greatest. According to a story in todayís newspapers, one of his possible future opponents has a whole lot of money. Iím betting he will spend some of it talking bad, errr telling the truth about The Junior Senator. The Junior Senator will be forced to talk back Ė just watch.

James Rodriguez, candidate for Houston City Council, District I, has been endorsed by the Houston Police Officers Union. Way to go!

Commentary is looking for someone to come on board. The Young Political Consultant That Ö.. is leaving Friday Ė yikes! Iím definitely going to miss her writing skills. Iím also going to miss bouncing stuff off of her. Hey, maybe Iíll take her to lunch sometimes and act like I just want to catch up and bounce things off of her. One thing is for sure, she canít be replaced.

Speaking of friends, I just figured out that I have more than the folks that talk bad about Commentary. Why donít you try figuring that one out? I just thought I would point it out.

Don Larsen is 78 years young today. As a Yankee, Larsen pitched the only perfect game in World Serious history on October 8, 1956 in Game 5 inYankee Stadium against the Brooklyn Dodgers. He only had to face the likes of Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges and Pee Wee Reese three times each. Mickey Mantle had a dinger in the game. The Yankees won 2 to nothing and won the World Serious four games to three. FYI Ė Don Larsen played for the Colt 45s/íStros in Ď64/í65.

Speaking of, there sure were a lot of miserable Cubbie fans at The Yard last night. They sure were not a happy bunch after the 10th inning. Tonight is National Night Out across America. Commentary and his little Caballito will be celebrating with about 35,000 of my neighbors at The Yard this evening.
