Day 3, Astros $$, Message

We're in the third day of the Special Session here in Texas and no word on a plan from the Ds - if there is a plan. The Light Guv announced yesterday that he's fixing to hit the airwaves to inform Texans about the issues on the table. The state's leading Latino business group endorsed Guv Dude's plan. Ditto The Trials. It is time for Ds to put forward a plan.

Did you know that of the 30 major league baseball teams, the Astros have the eighth highest payroll - #8. The Yankees are number one at $198 million, the Astros pay $92 1/2 mil. Hey, we're supposed to be good. The Fish - the team that SA wants to reel in - are dead last at $15 mil. Of course, $19 mil of the Astros' payroll is going to Jeff Bagwell.

Of the top 100 paid players, the Astros have four. Bagwell at #5, #9 Andy Pettitte - $16.4 mil, #14 Lance Berkman at $14.5 mil, and #41 Roy Oswalt at $11 mil.

Last night's Astros win was a bit on the ugly side. We were ahead 11 to 2, but we ended up winning 13 to 12. We're going to have to do a lot better than that, though 10 and 4 ain't bad.

On my way to the yard last night, was passed by a tow truck with a message on the back window - "Safe Clear S___s!" Tell me how you really feel.
