The Tea Parties

Way back in 1773, the colonists dumped a bunch of tea into Boston Harbor to protest taxation without representation or something like that. The point is they threw some stuff away. Tomorrow folks like the Houston Tea Party Society (sounds like some upper crust folks from the Westside of H-Town) will hold a rally Downtown to protest the government stimulus program. I presume they will walk about a block away and chunk some sort of commodity – like tea – into Buffalo Bayou. You can’t have a reenactment of sorts of the Boston Tea Party without chunking something of value into the bayou. If you don’t then you are nothing but a bunch of wimpy arse chumps. Among the commodities/stuff that Commentary will accept is tea, coffee, cocoa, salsa, popcorn, St. Arnold, wine from a Texas winery, flat screen TVs – of course, you might want to check with the Buffalo Bayou preservation folks to make sure what you chunk is bayou friendly.

Commentary ran into Cong. Sheila Jackson Lee the other day at an event. We sat at the same table and ate the same breakfast grub. She asked me if I was stirring up stuff these days. I have no idea what in the heck she was talking about.

43 and some of his former aides are getting together today up at his pad. It is a good thing they don’t have the keys to anything these days.

The Chron’s Ken Hoffman has a piece today that includes a mention of “Esquire” magazine’s list of “75 Albums Every Man Should Own.” He has four. Commentary has seven – “Rubber Soul” by The Beatles, the soundtrack to “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”, “Harvest” by Neil Young, “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye”, “The Traveling Wilburys”, “Buena Vista Social Club”, and “Pet Sounds” by The Beach Boys. Of course, some are on vinyl and some are in CD form. Now this isn’t a “best of” list. If it were, it would be dominated by The Beatles of course.

Commentary forgot to mention that Miya also showed up on Easter Sunday.

I want to apollyize for the ‘Stros’ lousy start. I want to apollyize for them not scoring a single run in the first two innings of the first seven games. I want to apollyize for them not scoring a run in the last two games – yikes!
