Commentary dropped by One Of My Best Friend’s crib yesterday and it was kind of bittersweet. It was the Alvarado’s first Easter without Frank. Carol, her Mom Ida and all the rest hosted a lot of the old gang including Mel, Judy, Dave, Jerome, the American Campaign Skipper, Cin and David, Gio, and James and The Lovely Wendy. Josh Evans, a UH student who volunteered on the campaigns, also showed up. Father Rivers was there and gave an Easter blessing of Carol’s crib – that was cool. It was a very nice gathering where we did a lot of catching up. Some of us also kept an eye on the tube checking out Tiger making things interesting.
The Lone Star State is fixing to double its key positions in the administration as BObama will become the First Pooch. BObama was born in the Lone Star State.
The Chron had a front page story yesterday on City of H-Town blue light specials for some developers. It turns out the hood next to mine got the thumbs down from the City when they wanted help. Meanwhile, the development next to River Oaks got the thumbs up. Check it out. I don’t know about that.
My friend Jay Aiyer came up with a not so good idea in yesterday’s Chron. Jay wants the HISD Board to get H-Town’s Mayor involved in selecting the next superintendent. Check it out. I also don’t know about that. The thought of the Mayor checking out resumes while campaigning for votes in South Texas doesn’t make me feel good. I don’t think we need to politicize an already political process if you know what I mean.
The ‘Stros had a lousy Easter weekend as they got swept by Albert Pujols and the Cards. The good news is the pitching is holding up better than a lot of folks predicted. T he bad news is we can’t seem to get timely hitting. They might have to call in the Navy SEALS today as they take on the Pirates in their home opener in Pittsburgh just after noon today which means that CNN will be replaced by FSH.
