Commentary learned a new term yesterday watching the Houston City Council – freeway blogging. It involves the anti-war folks that stand on H-Town’s Southwest Freeway bridges during rush hour and wave anti-war signs – cool. Apparently the Houston City Council Member Radio Talk Show Host had some unkind things to say about the anti-war folks and their methods of protesting. Think about it, you are sitting and fuming in real slow moving traffic then you see one of those anti-war signs being waved and you really get pi__ed off at W and Cheney. That’s a pretty good tactic.
Here’s what I don’t get. The anti-war folks are mad because they say they have a First Amendment Right to free speech and to assemble – they’re right. Doesn’t the Talk Show Host Council Member also have a right to say the anti-war folks don’t have a right to protest – huh? I know the Talk Show Host Council Member. I don’t think he’s going to go out to the bridges and force the anti-war folks off of the bridges. Heck, I don’t think he can even throw a good NS, errr nuckle sandwich.
Show me the money, errrr baby said the fella that found out he’s the daddy. The fella raced out of the courthouse, high fived the crowd, took a bow, did a home run trot, blew kisses, and popped champagne, but he never handed out cigars.
Why do we have college basketball? Why don’t we just pass a law in Texas to do away with college basketball programs and force the NBA to invest in a real minor league system like they do in baseball? Come on, we pay some college basketball coaches over a million a year and the good kids only stay around a year. What’s the point?
Looks like Brad Lidge reads Commentary. According to today’s Chron, Lidge might be seeing a yard whisperer – that’s a good thing.
